SIUC Reaffirms Commitment to Non-Discriminatory and Inclusive Admissions Policy

Spectrum International University College (SIUC) has officially reaffirmed its commitment to a non-discriminatory admissions policy, in line with the institution’s mission to provide inclusive, accessible, and equitable education for all. This policy is aligned with the university’s core values and international frameworks, including Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

SIUC’s admissions policy ensures that no individual is denied access to educational opportunities based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, nationality, age, or socioeconomic background. All applicants are evaluated fairly based on academic qualifications, program eligibility, and their potential to succeed.

“We believe that higher education should be a right, not a privilege. Our admissions process reflects this belief by removing barriers and ensuring that every qualified applicant has a fair chance,” said the Registrar’s Office in a joint statement.

While SIUC upholds a merit-based admissions approach, it also recognises the importance of creating pathways for students from underrepresented or disadvantaged communities. To support this:

Financial aid and scholarship schemes are made available for low-income applicants.
Bridging and foundation programs are offered to students who may not meet conventional entry requirements but show strong academic promise.
The university’s student support units assist applicants in navigating the admissions process and accessing the resources they need to succeed.

SIUC proudly welcomes applications from persons with disabilities. The university is committed to providing reasonable accommodations, including assistive technologies, accessible learning spaces, and dedicated support services to ensure an inclusive academic experience from admission through graduation.

The university is also in the process of expanding its accessibility infrastructure and training admissions staff on inclusive practices to ensure that applicants with diverse needs are welcomed and supported.
