ADJUNCT PROFESSORSHIP via RMC

Qualification & eligibility

  1. A prominent industrial practitioner with a Doctoral degree from a recognised institution by the Senate of SIUC or relevant professional qualifications.
  2. Has a minimum industrial experience of 10 years within the field of expertise.
  3. Candidate can be of any nationalities.
  4. Has recent involvement in research, development and innovation works with the industry and/or academia.
  5. Proven track record of leadership in both industry and academia.
  6. Applicants with an H-Index of 10 or higher are strongly preferred.

Appointment

  1. Appointment of Adjunct Professor duration is two (2) years and consideration may be given for a further extension.
  2. The candidate profile will be proposed to the adjunct committee for evaluation.
  3. Appointment is subjected to Senate of SIUC approval.

Scope of engagement

Academic portfolio:

  1. To conduct lectures based on expertise and experience in any course conducted within the semester running at SIUC (team teaching).
  2. To offer guidance to course lecturers for the enhancement of teaching and learning quality.
  3. To act as member in Programme Monitoring and Review Committee.
  4. Conduct seminars or training to students and academic staff of SIUC.
  5. Bridge the gap between academic and industry by providing connections for the purpose of engagements for students and lecturers with industry.
  6. To co-supervise at least one (1) postgraduate student during tenure.

Research and development:

  1. To offer expert advice on the enhancement of research and development, especially on commercialisation.
  2. Expand the network of industrial research by linking the RMC with related industry.
  3. During term of service as Adjunct Professor, each Adj Prof is required to publish at least Three SCOPUS-indexed journal articles or One WOS (Core Collections – SCI/SSCI/SCIE) journal article. Conference papers do not fulfill this requirement.

Promotion of SIUC

  1. To engage with activities in promoting SIUC through strategic partnerships.
  2. To provide pathways for students and graduates to engage with industry through internships and placements.
