Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Spectrum International University College (SIUC) organised a free educational workshop open to the general public on Value-Based Education (VBE), sustainable competencies and artificial intelligence (AI) integration, demonstrating its commitment to providing accessible educational opportunities and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education.
The full-day workshop, titled “Empowering SIUC Academicians Through VBE & AI Integration,” was hosted at SIUC’s campus and provided participants with an opportunity to explore innovative approaches to teaching, learning and academic programme development. Participation was free of charge, and the workshop was open to members of the general public, including individuals interested in educational innovation, sustainable learning and the responsible integration of artificial intelligence.
The initiative reflected SIUC’s commitment to extending educational opportunities beyond its enrolled students and academic staff. By providing free access to educational activities, SIUC encouraged knowledge sharing and lifelong learning while supporting the broader community’s engagement with emerging developments in education and technology.
The workshop introduced participants to the principles of Value-Based Education, emphasising the importance of integrating ethical values, responsible decision-making and sustainable competencies into educational practices. Participants explored how these principles could be incorporated into academic programmes to support meaningful learning experiences and the development of future-ready graduates.
A key component of the workshop focused on the strategic integration of artificial intelligence into programme design. Participants examined how AI tools could support curriculum planning, teaching activities, assessment development and educational problem-solving. The session also highlighted the importance of responsible AI adoption and maintaining educational quality when integrating emerging technologies.
The workshop further explored the application of the Constructive Alignment Table (CAT), demonstrating how learning outcomes, teaching activities and assessment methods can be systematically aligned. Through practical discussions and interactive learning activities, participants gained exposure to approaches for designing educational experiences that are innovative, relevant and responsive to evolving educational needs.
By hosting this free public educational event at its campus, SIUC provided an accessible platform for knowledge exchange, professional development and lifelong learning. The workshop supported SDG 4 (Quality Education) by making educational knowledge and learning opportunities available to the wider community without participation fees.
The initiative also reflected the importance of sustainable education and digital competencies in preparing individuals for a rapidly changing world. By combining Value-Based Education, sustainability principles and artificial intelligence, SIUC encouraged participants to consider how innovative educational approaches can contribute to long-term educational development.
Through initiatives such as this free public workshop, Spectrum International University College continues to demonstrate its commitment to hosting educational events that are open to the general public, promoting inclusive learning opportunities and supporting the achievement of SDG 4 through accessible education, knowledge sharing and continuous professional development.
