Spectrum International University College (SIUC) is deeply committed to contributing to national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) policy development, specifically in the area of inclusive and lifelong learning. This commitment is exemplified through its formal partnership with Yayasan Lagenda, a registered national non-governmental organisation chaired by Malaysian football icon Dato’ Dollah Salleh.
In 2024, SIUC and Yayasan Lagenda officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-develop and implement national-level educational strategies that support former national athletes and other non-traditional learners. This collaboration feeds directly into the national APEL (Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning) framework, a recognised government initiative that supports access to higher education through the recognition of informal, non-formal, and experiential learning.
Under this MoU, SIUC serves not only as an educational provider but also as an institutional advisor that contributes feedback and policy input into the refinement of lifelong learning pathways. This includes active participation in stakeholder consultations, joint development of model programmes for policy benchmarking, and structured reporting on the educational outcomes of former athletes. Through these mechanisms, SIUC helps inform, test, and model policy interventions aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
To support policy-level engagement, SIUC monitors the impact of these programmes through performance indicators such as enrollment patterns, programme completion rates, and post-graduation career pathways. These data-driven insights are communicated back to relevant government bodies and stakeholders to support evidence-based decision-making and adaptive policy management.
This policy-shaping initiative is publicly documented through SIUC’s official website, institutional reports, and joint outreach campaigns with Yayasan Lagenda. It serves as a model for how higher education institutions can play an active role in developing, implementing, and evaluating national SDG strategies through structured NGO partnerships.
