Spectrum International University College (SIUC) has formally implemented a Reasonable Accommodation Policy to ensure that individuals with disabilities are fully supported in their right to equitable access to education, employment, and campus life. The policy, effective from 2024, aligns with SIUC’s mission to foster an inclusive, accessible, and respectful environment for all.
The Reasonable Accommodation Policy applies to students, staff, faculty, applicants, and visitors who require modifications or adjustments due to physical, sensory, mental health, learning, or other recognised disabilities. It covers all university settings, including classrooms, online learning platforms, administrative spaces, events, and student services.
SIUC offers a range of reasonable accommodations, including extended time for exams, assistive technologies, accessible learning materials, and sign language interpretation. Requests are managed through a formal process facilitated by the Office of Student Affairs and Human Resources, with each case reviewed in consultation with medical professionals and academic staff where necessary.
As part of its institutional support, SIUC maintains a dedicated mechanism and allocated fund to cover the cost of accommodations such as assistive devices and infrastructure upgrades. The university also provides accessible facilities across campus, including ramps, elevators, and barrier-free restrooms, to ensure mobility and independence for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, SIUC offers transportation services, accessible hostel options, and scholarship opportunities for students with disabilities. These efforts ensure that no student is left behind due to financial, housing, or mobility challenges.
