Academic Support and Resource

Academic Support & Resources

At Spectrum International University College (SIUC), we are committed to supporting students throughout their academic journey. We provide a range of academic support services and learning resources to help students achieve their academic goals and develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for their future careers.

Students are encouraged to actively engage with their Programme Leaders and lecturers and seek support whenever required.

PROGRAMME LEADER SUPPORT

Each programme is overseen by a dedicated Programme Leader who serves as the primary academic contact for students throughout their studies.

Programme Leaders provide guidance and support on:

  • Programme requirements and progression;
  • Academic performance and study planning;
  • Assessment and academic regulations;
  • Academic concerns and challenges;
  • Referrals to relevant support services where appropriate;
  • Overall academic development and success.

Students are encouraged to contact their Programme Leader whenever they require academic guidance or support.

SIUC lecturers are committed to supporting student learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Each lecturer allocates dedicated tutoring and consultation hours every week, providing students with opportunities to:

  • Seek clarification on lecture content;
  • Discuss assessment requirements;
  • Obtain feedback on academic performance;
  • Receive guidance on projects and assignments;
  • Address subject-specific learning challenges.

Students may arrange consultations directly with their respective lecturers during the allocated tutoring hours.

Spectrum2U Learning Management System (LMS)

Students are provided access to Spectrum2U, SIUC’s Moodle-based Learning Management System, which serves as the primary platform for teaching and learning support.

Through Spectrum2U, students can access:

  • Lecture notes;
  • Presentation slides;
  • Learning materials;
  • Recorded lectures (where available);
  • Assessment information;
  • Announcements and academic updates;
  • Learning activities and resources.

Self-Instructional Materials (SIM)

To further support student learning, particularly for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes, SIUC provides comprehensive Self-Instructional Materials (SIM).

The SIM package includes:

  • Recorded video lectures prepared by academic staff;
  • Interactive learning activities;
  • Self-assessment exercises;
  • Online quizzes;
  • Guided learning content;
  • Additional learning resources to support independent study.

These resources enable students to learn at their own pace and reinforce understanding of key concepts outside scheduled teaching sessions.

Digital Library Resources

Students have access to a wide range of online academic databases and scholarly resources through the SIUC Digital Library.

Resources include:

  • ProQuest;
  • Gale;
  • Academic journals;
  • E-books;
  • Research publications;
  • Industry reports and professional resources.

The Digital Library supports teaching, learning, research, and assessment activities across all programmes.

SIUC is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic honesty, integrity, and professional conduct.

Students are expected to:

  • Submit original work;
  • Properly acknowledge all sources;
  • Avoid plagiarism, collusion, and other forms of academic misconduct;
  • Adhere to University regulations regarding academic integrity.

To support students in maintaining academic standards, SIUC utilises PlagiarismChecker.org as an academic integrity support tool to assist in identifying potential similarity concerns and promoting good academic practice.

Students are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the University’s academic integrity requirements and seek guidance whenever clarification is required.

Students are provided with access to both a Student Handbook and a Programme Handbook.
