Spectrum International University College (SIUC) provides formal and inclusive mentoring, counselling, and peer support programmes designed to uplift and empower students, staff, and faculty from underrepresented groups, ensuring equitable access to guidance and professional support throughout their academic and professional journeys.
Through its Peer Mentorship Program, SIUC pairs senior students with first-year and underrepresented students including individuals from low-income households, first-generation university attendees, international students, and students with disabilities to support their academic and social transition into university life. Recognising that these students may require continued encouragement and tailored support beyond their first semester, the programme is structured to provide ongoing mentorship throughout the student’s university journey.
In addition, SIUC offers comprehensive counselling and mental health services delivered by certified counsellors in a private, inclusive, and culturally sensitive environment. These services are designed to address the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of individuals from marginalised or vulnerable backgrounds. These supports are available not only to students but also extended to staff and faculty members who may face personal or professional challenges and require a safe, supportive space to seek help.
To further enhance equity and retention, SIUC has also established a Career Mentorship initiative offering structured career coaching, resume-building workshops, job interview preparation, and mentorship from industry professionals and academic advisors. This initiative places particular emphasis on empowering students and staff from underrepresented backgrounds including women in science and technology, persons with disabilities, and individuals from underserved communities. The programme also supports junior academic staff and administrative personnel from underrepresented groups in building long-term career pathways, fostering retention, growth, and inclusive leadership.
All these services are offered free of charge and can be accessed through scheduled appointments via SIUC’s student support office. They are actively promoted through website announcements, peer outreach campaigns, student orientation sessions, and department-level awareness drives.
